The men of the 63rd Company of Special
"Caçadores" from the 10th Infantary Regiment (R.I. 10 - Aveiro) deserve their
story to be known, they deserve that their presence in the villages and places of the
northern region of Angola has a place in History. That was the place where, between 1960
and 1962, renamed as "4.ª Companhia de Caçadores Especiais (4.ª C.C.E.)", 4th
Company of Special "Caçadores" from the Luanda's Infantary Regiment (R.I.L.),
they end up knowing the hard way all the "reality" of the conflict with Angola's
guerrilla and with all the "pro-independence groups", the same way they faced
the "colonial policies" from Salazar's regime. It's not our purpose to defend
anything beyond the History of this group of men, their human profile and all the problems
and challenges they were forced to face and to solve. With several unpublished photos,
some brief notes and the memories that time will never erase, we try to make this
"regist" from some of the "episodes" from this Company. The authors, separated and united by one generation, try to use the Information
Tecnologies oportunities and the ecletic coverage of the Internet to take this
"regist" as far as possible. On the near future other research material will be
added to this pages, more photos and "field notes" and a very special attention
to the Angola's people culture and traditions. We welcome all the feedback we can get.
